I registered a domain with one company now i want to host my site on another host , do I need to transfer that domain to my new host ?

What you do is you go into the control panel of where you bought the domain from (like if you bought it from godaddy, go to godaddy.com, if you bought it from Network Solutions, go to netsol.com) and change the DNS servers to your new host, removing the old host dns entries.
