Hosting/Computer question?

I purchased hosting and bought a domain and uploaded files to the server via the given FTP from the host. Every time I go to the site I get an error saying that firefox can%26#039;t find the server. I talked to the hosting company and they said they could access the site fine from their stations. I am having no such luck and think it is something going on here on my end. I have flushed DNS and done some other things but I can%26#039;t figure out why the site is not coming up on my PC. Please help.

see if you can ping the domain

go to Start %26gt; Run %26gt; type CMD

then from the command line type ping www.mydomain.com

if it fails, its not resolving the DNS name. Maybe internic isn%26#039;t pointed properly, if the DNS records are set up at the host then they will be able to get to it internally since they probably use the same DNS your records are on but if internic isn%26#039;t set up properly then the rest of the world can%26#039;t.

That is odd, how long has it been since you changed the domain to use the DNS servers your hosting company said to use?

DNS propagation can take 24 to 48 hours, so if its been under that you might just need to wait. If its been over that you might have a problem. There are freak cases of bad ISPs causing further delays but that is unlikely.

Message me your domain if you want and I can check from here, you might also ask a friend on IM to check it for you and see if everyone is having problems.
