How do I host on my registered domain? I think I have everything I need, but how do I do it?

I have registered a domain name, I have purchased an FTP program, and I have a website on geocities. So how do I take my already built website off geocities and onto my domain name?

You need a fixed external IP address from your ISP, this will cost extra, they may require you to upgrade to a business account, even more cost. You will need to set a fixed internal address for your server, and set port forwarding on the router for all the services you wish to offer. You need to decide which server OS you wish to employ. You then need to edit the dns of your domain to point to your web and mail servers.

What you have to do is, transfer your files from geocities to your local hard drive and upload them to your new host using FTP program. Or you can re-direct your current domain name to your geocities then you do not need to transfer files at all.

Other Replys:You need you domain name then you need to FTP the domain eg. ftp.intouchpc.com.au

when you got you domain you would have been given a password and username, log on with these, and your site is ready for transfer, just simply drag the nominated contense to your site and it should load.

Any further queeries contact me at www.intouchpc.com.au

Other Replys:for it you need hosting, you can buy hosting in very cheap rate at

http://www.urlstate.com/

Other Replys:I don%26#039;t believe geocities will allow you to have your own domain name. You can check out hostgator, thats where I host my domain names at. If you use coupon code %26quot;iceishot%26quot;

You can get the first month of hosting for only 1 cent.
