Is a Windows XP user name accessible to host domains?

I hope i asked this question correctly, this is what i mean:

lets say my name is john doe, and i%26#039;ve created my user name on windows XP as john doe

1. If I visit a website is any information of mine recordable besides my internet protocol? (in other words, is there any way for the host to know that i%26#039;m %26quot;john doe?%26quot;

2. what if I download a file from the website?

Ex: i save a jpeg or a zip file to my desktop (c:\documents and settings\john doe, or something like that)
