Web Design?

I recently got a new job teaching at University and would like to make a webpage for use in the courses I teach. I have never made a webpage before so i am looking for software that is easy to use. I want to be able to have graphics, links to a variety of other pages, fillable forms and although not initially the ability to create a database. Can anyone reccomend a good software or books geared for beginners with a need for professional looking results? Ideally I would like to have a program that I can grow with as my skills develop.

I%26#039;m using a MAC with OSX tiger, so any software must be compatible with that.

Thanks in advance for your help.

if you can handle ms word or powepoint, you can handle iWeb!

Dreamweaver has a pretty good combination - easy to use interface with lots of capabilities, and it does have a Mac version.

Other Replys:For simple stuff, you can always use Microsoft Expression Web. I basically use VS 2005 for developing web applications but I took a quick look at Microsoft Expression Web and it seems simple and straight forward for simple pages.
