I just bought a domain and hosting, but I can%26#039;t seem to find the right program to get what I want on the site .. suggestions?
What program(s) do I need to get a website up %26amp; running? And where can I download them from?
First you need a web host, which is the place to keep your site. Eg- yahoo geocities, bravehost, etc.
Dreamweaver is THE BEST program for creating professional websites. If you have and know how to use flash with it, your site can be wicked cool.
If you dont know how to use Dreamweaver, just use Microsoft FrontPage.
If you have problems with Frontpage, most web hosts give you the tools to make your website online.

Dreamweaver is the best but than again i do use notePad all the time
Other Replys:Yahoo geocities.
Other Replys:I have always used Coffecup Software, easy to use and great feature, just do a general search for Coffeecup software in Yahoo or Google
Other Replys:You need a text editor to write the pages. I%26#039;m fond of JEdit. http://jedit.org/
... and something to upload the files to the webserver. What that is depends on what methods of upload the hosting service provides. Many services offer FTP, FileZilla is a popular choice of FTP client: http://filezilla-project.org/download.ph...
Other Replys:It sounds like you picked the wrong Web Host.
Geocities through Yahoo furnish Domain Name, Web Hosting and the Software is Free as well.
Other Replys:Strictly speaking you only need notepad and you can code in straight html. However if you want to make things easy on yourself use a program like Dreamweaver or Microsoft Frontpage. Dreamweaver is the best in my opinion. Its a bit expensive but its worth it.
Other Replys:Microsoft Front Page comes free with some versions of Office. The %26#039;purists%26#039; hate it, but I used it with no training at all and no background in web design to produce a nifty website. WS-FTP is a free ftp client to upload your web pages - again simple to understand and statcounter.com gives you a free web tracker to check who%26#039;s visiting your site. Have a look at www.stjosephsbonnybridge.co.uk to see how I managed with no outside help - if you can use a word processor you can set up a website! Good luck!
Other Replys:I agree with almost everything said previously. In addition, I%26#039;d like to point out the Microsoft Office allows you to export things in HTML format. That means you can create a multiple page Word document, Excel spreadsheet, PowerPoint slide presentation or other program with an export to HTML.
Microsoft Visio is an excellent way to build a web page that needs a graphical style. Again, all you need to do is export to HTML.
